If you have a question regarding whether or not we provide a service that isn’t listed on our website, please feel free to submit a form through our Contact page or call us at (346) 573-8955.
The closest Board-Certified Veterinary Dentist (DAVDC) to our clinic is Dr. Chanda Miles at Veterinary Dentistry Specialists in Katy, TX, and can be reached at (346) 257-6725.
Services

Curious about what our doctor will look at during this assessment? We've got you covered!
The initial consultation takes about 15 minutes. During this time, Dr. Bolotov will take a look at your pet's teeth as well as listen to their heart and lungs.
If your pet has a heart murmur, this does not disqualify them from the procedure. Based on your pet's needs, the grade of the murmur, and your pet's bloodwork, we tailor an individual anesthetic plan and take steps to ensure your pet's procedure is as safe as possible!
-
At ADCC, we take a number of steps to ensure the safety of your pet during their procedure.
Every pet, regardless of age, is required to have bloodwork done prior to their dental procedure. This is to ensure their internal organs are healthy enough to handle the anesthesia as well as pain medication that may be required to keep them comfortable afterwards. If the values on bloodwork come back abnormal, this does not disqualify your pet from an anesthetic dental cleaning, but does allow us to tailor their anesthetic protocol to best fit their individual needs.
An IV catheter is placed in every patient to administer anesthetic drugs, IV fluids, and to provide safe, immediate intravenous access for emergency drugs in the event that they become necessary.
Full mouth dental radiographs (x-rays) are performed during every dental procedure included as part of the dental package. This allows us to check for disease beneath the gum-line that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Your pet's teeth will be thoroughly scaled to remove tartar and build-up, just like when we go to the dentist!
Every patient will have an individual solely dedicated to monitoring and keeping them safe during their procedure. Their vitals are monitored and recorded continuously during the procedure to allow adjustments to be made as needed.
When the dental procedure is completed, our patients will also have a dedicated individual with them during recovery. This is to ensure that they wake up from their procedure safely and smoothly.
-
Dental radiographs (x-rays) are a vital diagnostic tool for addressing periodontal disease in your pet's mouth. They allow a look beneath the gum line to address issues invisible to the naked eye, such as tooth root abscess, broken teeth, pulp inflammation, and boney problems around the teeth. Dental radiographs also allow us to safely remove damaged or disease teeth while ensuring nothing is left behind.
-
The thought of their pet having teeth extracted can be scary for many pet owners. We often face a variety of questions, and with an experienced support staff and a doctor with extensive dental and surgical experience, we're equip to answer your questions and handle extensive dental extractions and treatments.
-
Lumps and bumps can be concerning, especially when found in the mouth. Our doctor has completed extensive continuing education in oral mass treatment and removal.
Our clinic is also equipped with a sterile surgery suite. If you’re pet needs a mass removed from an area of the body other than the mouth, we may also be able to provide this service as well. However, this is location and patient dependent.
Any mass has the potential to be cancerous, so we send every mass to an outside lab for histopathology by a Pathologist once removed in order to get a complete and accurate diagnosis. Results are typically received back by our clinic within 2 to 3 business days.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Pet's need dental care the same as their human companions, but unfortunately, they're less complaint with regular teeth brushing. Yearly dental cleanings are used to prevent or treat periodontal disease, remove tartar buildup, address tooth decay, and handle other oral health issues. Regular cleanings help maintain overall health and prevent more serious problems, such as heart disease, which has been linked to dental disease in pets.
-
Yes, anesthesia is required for a thorough cleaning and examination. It allows for proper scaling below the gum line, quality dental radiographs, and ensures the patient remains still during the procedure.
-
The length of the procedure varies pet-to-pet and is dependent on several factors, such as size, breed, and the severity of your pet's dental disease.
If no extractions are necessary, a dental procedure takes on average 30 minutes to 1 hours, from the time that the anesthesia begins to the time that the patient wakes up. When extractions are necessary, the procedure make take closer to 2 hours, depending on how extensive the extractions are. Regardless, we do not keep any patient under anesthesia for longer than 2 hours for the safety of the pet.
-
Some discomfort is expected, especially if extractions are performed. We take extensive measures to ensure that every patient is comfortable before, during, and after their procedure, starting with their pre-anesthetic drugs. We don't believe any pet deserves to be in pain. Similar to when people go to the dentist, local blocks are administered to numb your pet’s mouth. This ensures your pet recovers from anesthesia without pain. The appropriate pain medication will be sent home with any patient having to undergo dental extractions.
-
If the procedure is routine and doesn't require any extractions, our patients usually recover fully within about 12 to 24 hours, though some patients may take closer to 48 hours if they're sensitive to anesthesia.
While the initial anesthetic recovery time is the same, if extractions are needed, you can expect the full recovery process to take about 14 days. During this time, your pet will need to remain on soft/canned food fully while their gums heal from their extractions.
-
Yes, even with extensive or full-mouth extractions, your pet will still be able to eat, though they may need to be on soft/canned food long term. For many pets, the pain and discomfort of diseased teeth causes higher concern for eating, and we see increased appetite once these teeth are removed.

We understand that this decision can be stressful and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have.
Meet the Doctor
Christen Bolotov, DVM
Veterinarian and Founder
Dr. Christen Bolotov earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from St. George's University in 2014. Since then, she has embarked on a diverse and rewarding career in animal healthcare, exploring various specialties within the field.
Throughout her professional journey, Dr. Bolotov has gained valuable experience across multiple veterinary disciplines. However, it was in the intricate world of veterinary dentistry that she discovered her true calling. This specialization allows her to combine her passion for animal care with her meticulous attention to detail, improving the oral health and overall well-being of her patients.
Early in her career, Dr. Bolotov worked at a low-cost, high-volume clinic in Illinois, where she saw firsthand how much the community needed affordable dental care for their dogs and cats. When she started, the clinic had a nearly 2-year backlog for patients needing anesthetic dental procedures. In just six months, she helped bring that wait time down to just two weeks.
It was at this clinic that Dr. Bolotov learned the important lesson that efficiency and timeliness of care is just as crucial as quality care, and how vital it is for veterinary professionals to make a positive impact on their communities. After this experience, she continued to expand her expertise in veterinary dentistry, completing numerous continuing education courses to further grow her skills and knowledge.
Now based in Cypress, Dr. Bolotov brings her skills and passion to the local community. Her commitment to animal health extends beyond the clinic doors and into her personal life. When she's not caring for pets at the clinic, she’s at home with her husband, four kids, and a variety of pets, including a graceful Borzoi, a sweet three-legged Golden Retriever, and two cats.
Dr. Bolotov's ability to balance a busy professional career with an active family life demonstrates her dedication, versatility, and the deep-rooted passion she holds for both veterinary medicine and the joy of raising her family - both human and animal.
